Singapore’s Southern Ridges Hike
One of the things that makes Singapore feel so modern is its impressive prioritization of green space. The Southern Ridges is a continuous 10km hike that takes you on a journey through several of Singapore’s best parks. It consists mostly of paved pedestrian paths, including walkways through the treetops that overlook the city, as well as bridges so that you never have to cross any roads.

We began our hike by taking the MRT to the HarbourFront stop and entering Mount Faber Park.

The hike immediately ascends up Mount Faber to a walkway overlooking the city.

In about 30 minutes, we reached Henderson Waves (Point 3 on the map): a stunning bridge that connects Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park.

The pathing continued through the treetops, offering a surreal and beautiful mixture of jungle and skyscraper views.

The trail eventually descended back to ground level at Hort Park, where we were treated to expansive, well-manicured gardens. Check the map carefully at this point, because it’s easy to take an unintended detour through Hort Park’s 22 acres of meandering trails.

Finally, the trail took us back into the treetops of Kent Ridge Park for a beautiful sunset.

At this point, you just have a bit of road walking to the Kent Bridge MRT, which can bring to whatever your next destination may be within the city.
