Sierra Norte Day 3: Latuvi to Benito Juárez

Our third and last day featured a 12km hike from Latuvi (2422 meters elevation) to the Benito Juárez lookout point (3100 meters), and then back down to the town of Benito Juárez. By now, the elevation was getting noticeable in terms of both the vegetation and the temperature, making for much cooler, more pleasant hiking.

I think this was my favorite hike of the three. You’ve got your adorable cows:

Awesome landscapes:

Cool plant life:

And even a waterfall! It was mostly dried up due to the dry season, but it had enough of a trickle for me to refill my lifestraw.

The lookout point was definitely the highlight. What a view.

After enjoying the lookout, all that was left to do was traverse this rickety-ass bridge, and we were back soon back in a taxi to Oaxaca city.

Many thanks to my fellow hikers for making this an unforgettable weekend!
