Kayaking Around the Seto Inland Sea
Our next stop was Onomishi, which attracted us with its famous Shimanami Kaido cycling route. However, we couldn’t visit a major body of water and not paddle it, so we also booked a sea kayaking tour.

The excursion began on Mukaishima Island, near the Mukaishima Bridge. From there, we made our way toward Innoshima Island.

This was definitely my first time visiting a shrine by kayak!

The weather, which started off a bit gloomy, cleared up nicely for the latter half of the morning, allowing us to get some gorgeous shots of the water.

We docked on Yugej-ima Island for lunch, which had lots of cherry blossoms because of course it did.

The way back was unfortunately a bit of a slog, as we were battling the tide through open water the whole way back. But, back we did make it! On the whole, I have a feeling that this area is known for its cycling rather than kayaking for a reason. But, it’s always cool to see an area from a different vantage point.
Next up: the Shimanami Kaido!
